‘If finding God in our churches leads to us losing Him in our factories,’ wrote Geoffrey Studdert Kennedy (aka Woodbine Willie), who helped develop the Industrial Christian Fellowship in the 1920s, ‘then better we tear down those churches, for God must hate the sight of them’. ICF continues to address this call today.

Written to mark one hundred years since the founding of ICF, Love @ Work is the first comprehensive history of this significant organisation, which seeks to help people in the workplace understand and practise the Christian faith.

The book describes the highs and lows of ICF and explores the lessons and challenges of the past in seeking to develop a clear integration of faith and work. Combining history, sociology and theology, it comprises a fascinating study of the influences of faith, family and social context on our understanding of business, management, employment and community. It is essential reading for all involved in contemporary mission today.

Ian Randall is a Research Associate of the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide. He is also a Senior Research Fellow of the International Baptist Theological Study Centre in Amsterdam, and for twenty years was a lecturer at Spurgeon’s College, London. Phil Jump is Chair of ICF, Regional Minister of the North Western Baptist Association, and was Chair of the North West Churches Officer project which became a nationally recognised pioneer faith and community engagement programme. John Weaver is Vice-Chair of ICF, and was President of the Baptist Union 2008–9, Tutor in Practical Theology at Regent’s Park College, Oxford, Principal of the South Wales Baptist College and Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Cardiff University.
